It can be said that Dr. Gail Weingast’s career journey began in 1969, when the future doctor attended Tufts University’s Jackson College. However, it was clear at the time that a career in medicine wasn’t foremost in her mind at the time, since she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish., with no sign of a “pre-med” emphasis. Whatever the reason, she changed her mind soon after, given that she began attending the Boston University School of Medicine, within enough time to get her medical degree in 1976. That is when she officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD.

Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast completed a two-year pediatrics internship, a two-year pediatrics residency, a three year radiology residency and a fellowship in ultrasound between 1976 and 1983 under the auspices of Colorado General Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After that, she completed her post-graduate radiology studies at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver, by 1984. Dr. Gail Weingast then followed up her formal education with practical experience at several hospitals in both Colorado and New York, before she settled in at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. By now, she has been there for more than two decades, and where she has guided her department into a position as a premiere medical facility in New England and nationwide.

Looking back on her 40-years-plus as a doctor, it is clear that Dr. Gail Weingast’s medical career was a good choice, whatever her reasons for doing so. She is now considered an accomplished radiology specialist, and she serves Backus Hospital as the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging.

At Colorado General Hospital in Denver after medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast completed a pediatrics internship in 1976-1977 and followed that with a residency in pediatrics, which she completed in 1978.
